This is where it all started. We realized that walking around with a donation box isn’t the same as putting together a great event. Our scavenger hunt was not only focused on raising funds for charity, but also giving local high school students the opportunity to come together and participate in our own little “amazing race”.

Students ran all over Manhattan looking for clues and solving puzzles, but their hard work was not left unrewarded (if they won).  As we raised $530, the winning team had the opportunity to donate half the pot to a charity of their choice: The St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The other half has been used to help run countless lessons, as well as future events. Countless participants were even interested in joining TASC and being a part of something new and student-run. Not only did the scavenger hunt donate to an amazing foundation, but it also helped our TASC family double in size.

 

With the participation of 15 teams, our scavenger hunt was a success for our first event.  As such, we will be holding a second scavenger hunt on April 22, 2019. We are setting a goal of $800 with a participation of 25 teams. We look to encourage the same sense of association in all our future events.
